Festival Essentials

Spring is in full swing and we’ve officially kicked off the festival season with Ultra and Coachella’s first weekend already behind us.

With a lot of festivals come a lot of fashion dilemmas. Should you keep your style game on top and LITERALLY die after an hour of walking / dancing / jumping / *insert a new move here* or should you opt for super comfy outfit that’s only 4/10 on the trend scale? Why is life so complicated!?

Luckily, we found and compiled our top picks for stylish and comfy festival outfits so you can be the queen of the dancefloor and the catwalk!

The Slip On Dress

From knee- to full length, this is a must have item for your festival wardrobe. Dresses are awesome because you don’t have to think about pairing them with anything. They will keep you stylish while still allowing you to move freely.

Wear with: ankle-length boots, statement accessories (but not too heavy!), headscarf or other headpiece (but leave out the flower crowns), cross-shoulder bag

Shorts & Top Combo

This is a festival classic. So comfy you can wear it every day of the festival! If you want no one to realize you’re practically wearing the same thing two days in a row, just refresh the classic take on this look by combining shorts with the upper part of a swimsuit and a cardigan instead.

Wear with: ankle-length boots, sunglasses (the bigger & crazier – the better), fedora hat, casual clutch

Like to the slip on dress, the tunic lets you crack a move while keeping your cool. Unlike the slip on dress you can choose to either pair the tunic with shorts or leave it as it is. These are usually shorter in length, so if you choose to wear it without shorts just be mindful about how high you jump.

Introducing AYR

1622073_372489769622433_2631251663944541495_nGood design is always in season. Unsurprisingly, this is the mantra of AYR – a brand that believes in good design, versatility and effortless chic. And we can’t agree more.

Sometimes the simplest things are really the hardest to find.  These essential wardrobe pieces are everyday favourites and although it might seem that there tons of them around (think jeans, clean shirts, tops) finding the perfect one can be a real pain. This is why we fell in love with AYR – they understand that these “basic” items are the cornerstone for every outfit which make them so much more important.

AYR don’t only excel when it comes to their products but also in outstanding & thoughtful customer service. From their e-commerce store to their home-try-on service, the brand really goes that extra mile in caring and understanding their customers.

And the products? Incredibly soft life-changing denim that holds, lifts, and forms to the body with wear, light-as-air silk tops, sexy turtlenecks and effortless slip dresses to die for. If you need more conviction just think about this – 10/10 girls look and feel amazing in their AYR skinny jeans after having pizza for breakfast. Need we say more!?

We’re thrilled to introduce AYR’s best products in MyClique! Go browse your heart out!

Decoded Fashion Meetup – Turning Content into Cash

Last Monday might have been the most depressing day of the year but Wednesday was a whole different story. Namely because we headed to Decoded Fashion’s first London meetup of the year.

Held at the beautiful Twitter HQ offices, fashion and e-commerce pros and enthusiasts gathered to discuss how technology can help brands turn content into cash. With social commerce on the rise thanks to new discovery apps and services, no wonder Twitter’s offices were buzzing that night.

Twitter’s Head of Media Partnerships, Kira O’Connor, kicked off the evening with some interesting statistics around Twitter and fashion conversations on the platform. She highlighted leading designers, publishers and influencers who are highly active on Twitter, including Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld, Vogue UK, Elle UK, Man Repeller, Susie Bubble, Danielle Peazer and Rumi Neely. Access to new items, competitions and promotions, behind the scenes access to designers and exclusives of catwalk pieces are the top things fashion followers want to see more of on Twitter. Kira also answered the most important question of the night – Where did she get that stunning dress from?

We also heard from Steve Callanan, ‎CEO and Co-founder of Wirewax – a taggable video platform, empowering users to add clickable hotspots, or ‘tags’, to any moving person or object in a video. These tags can then link to extra content, opportunities to buy or help brands create immersive experiences. Wirewax case studies include Vans, Coach, Pepe Jeans and even USA Networks and Sherlock.

Tarika Soni explained how through deep-linking and real-time segmentation, TapCommerce offers reminders to users in-app, while Dave Murray from RewardStyle gave an insight into the workings of their LIKEtoKNOW.it tool which makes Instagram content shoppable.

Taken together, all these reflect one of the biggest goals of today’s marketers: to decrease the time between the moment of interest and the moment of purchase.

How would you describe your style?

Chic, daring and forever evolving. I love trying out new trends and styles, and I’m not scared to get out of my comfort zone. When I dress-up, my priorities are set on making a statement. Then again, the one person I’m trying to impress by doing so is, and will always be, myself!

How did you get into blogging?

In my first year of University, I had a hard time figuring out how the online course selection system was working and ended up with what I thought back then would be the worst elective class of all times… Algorithm. At the end of the semester, our final assignment was to put together a web page about something we liked and have it organically function by launching it through the World Wide Web and maintaining the website online for a couple of weeks. I chose Fashion because well, it has always been such a true passion of mine and I figured working on something I knew so well and loved so much would probably make my job a lot easier… So it did! After three weeks I was hooked. When the semester ended, I decided to keep up with my online page, which eventually became a blog, and pursue writing as a hobby. Three years later, PBTH has become an essential part of myself and has involved into a business opportunity I will always cherish and keep pursuing.

I know this might sound super cliché but I didn’t ‘get into’ blogging, blogging got into me.

The ultimate style advice someone has given to you…

Always dress age-appropriately. I don’t think there’s anything worse than someone trying too hard to look older/younger. There is an age to any style and a style to any age; we have to embrace the stage of life we are currently taking part in instead of wanting to grow up to fast or, to keep reminiscing about the past. Also, you should always dress to please yourself, not someone else.

All I want for Christmas is..

New stamps on my passport & health for all of my friends and family

Why are you excited about the collaboration with MyClique?

MyClique is bringing a whole new perspective to both – social media and fashion. As a digital influencer, I rely on social media a lot because this is the easiest and most efficient way I can connect with my readers and keep interacting with them. Plus, I know how hard it can be to want to plan a shopping date with your girlfriends when everybody’s schedule is different. When we first got into College, my gal pals and I had the hardest time planning anything that would require us to be all together at once place. We still do! Social media definitely come in handy whenever we want to catch up, schedule (read try to!) a day or night out, discuss something we saw in class or simply ask advice one to another. When it comes to fashion, trends and shopping days, we can now do it all for here on MyClique without having to wait until everybody’s free or having to rush things because someone’s in a hurry!

MyClique at FashInvest

It’s been busy around here! Straight after the team exhibited at Unbound Digital in London, MyClique was shortlisted to present at the Fashinvest Capital Conference in New York.

The 5th year of the Annual Fashion Tech Investment Conference took place on December 11, 2014 at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. The conference got together the brightest young companies along with top industry speakers and keynotes that have become the expected standard for any FashInvest event.

Highlights of the event was also the presentation of the 2014 Fashion Tech Fashpreneur Award awarded to Mona Bijoor (CEO & Founder, JOOR) and Fashion Tech Brand Innovator Awards awarded to Harley Barna (CEO & Co-Founder, Birchbox).
